Gardening South Mississippi

gardening south mississippi
What are some good fruits and vegetables for a smallish winter garden in South Mississippi?

Our winters are usually pretty mild. We usually don’t get a week’s worth of weather under 30 degrees Fahrenheit. The garden is in full sun. There’s lots of humidity and a decent amount of rainfall. My dad doesn’t want to plant more than five or six types of plants. We’re planning on a garden probably about 20X30. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Squash, carrots, cucumbers tomatoes, okra.
In December you might want to check with either Lowes or Wal Mart & get a satsuma tree. They do really well in South Mississippi, unless you get another one like Katrina.
Check with Harrison County co-op on Highway 49, they should be able to help you.
I don’t know what’s still standing in Biloxi or Ocean Springs.
